(EMU) – St. Kitts, January 31, 2017: The Basseterre High School won the Inaugural National Junior Science Quiz in a final round of competition held on Monday 30th January.
Representatives from the Basseterre High School outshined their competitors in a final round of competition to be adjudged the winners. The competition was hosted by the Curriculum Development Unit with the purpose of raising awareness of science among the youths.
During the month of January, high schools within the Federation battled within elimination rounds to secure a spot in the finals.
Basseterre High, Verchilds, Cayon and Charlestown Secondary School all competed in the final round after successfully winning their respective zones.
First runner-up for the Quiz was the Charlestown Secondary School. The participants all received tokens of appreciation as well as participation medals. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. William Hodge distributed the awards and prizes for the winners and participants.
