BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Federation has recorded its 13th homicide for the year with the shooting death of 20-year-old Anthony ‘Bounty’ Williams of Fort Thomas Road.

Williams was gunned down last night (June 5) in Salt Pond Alley on Fort Thomas Road. Police officials arrived on scene shortly after 10:00 p.m. and transported the victim to the Joseph N. France General Hospital.

Sources informed that Williams was shot thrice to the body – one bullet to the chest, one to the abdomen and another to the leg. Hospital staff operated on him for almost an hour but was unable to save the young man’s life. He died during surgery.

According to the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Cromwell Henry, Williams was at the time seated at the lower section of Salt Pond Alley when a lone gunman opened fire on him.

The incident marks the fourth time in this week that gunmen had terrified the McKnight and Irishtown communities. On Monday (June 1), a shootout among three men occurred on Fiennes Avenue in broad daylight.

Two separate shootings occurred on Wednesday night (June 3). Some eight bullets were fired at the Fiennes Avenue home of Davida Phipps, causing minor damage to the front door and window, as well as to the bonnet of a car parked in the immediate vicinity.

Just over an hour later, Gavin ‘Big Cheese’ Grant and Travis ‘Small One’ Crawford, both of Irishtown, were shot on their way home.

Last year the Federation recorded an unprecedented number of 23 homicides – 18 on St. Kitts and five on Nevis. All of the homicides for this year have been committed on St. Kitts.

The police are appealing to persons with relevant information to call the Criminal Investigation Department at 465-2241 ext 220, 230 or 236. Individuals may also call the crime hotline at 707.
