Press Release

As part of our community service policy, contestants of the MISS CARIBBEAN DIVA 2009 in May hosted reading sessions at the The Bregado Flax Educational Centre Primary School and The Robinson O'Neal Memorial Primary School in Virgin Gorda.

The beauties enjoyed interacting with Grades Two, Three and Five pupils and were thanked by teachers for their interest in the promotion of education.

“We continue to encourage contestants to do something positive by giving back to the community. Making a difference in someone’s life is easy, from simply reading a story to children in your neighborhood or helping an elderly with their shopping. By doing this, we hope it inspires others to get involved in their respective communities.”

Nine contestants – Miss BVI Andrea Howe, Miss Dominica Joycelyn David, Miss Dominican Republic Darys Smith, Miss Grenada Arianna McQuilkin, Miss Haiti Kettia Pierre, Miss St Kitts and Nevis Shinika Mercer, Miss St Lucia Sherika Trim, Miss St Vincent & The Grenadines Dezika Andrews, and Miss Trinidad and Tobago Nickisha Gould-Foster - will compete for the MISS CARRIBBEAN DIVA 2009 title on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall, Road Town, Tortola from 7PM.

The Miss Caribbean Diva Pageant showcases the Caribbean’s uniqueness in style and fashion and the historical and cultural bonds we share as a people of this beautiful region.  We advocate the celebration and understanding of our cultural differences and promote unity in this diverse community we call the British Virgin Islands.
