By: Melissa Bryant, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THREE was an unlucky number for motorists travelling on the Frigate Bay Road Friday evening (June 6), as the habitually busy thoroughfare was the site of three minor traffic accidents.

A release from the Police Press and Public Relations Office revealed that the accidents all occurred within an hour. It further informed that the second roundabout was the site of the unfortunate mishaps.

“The first accident occurred at about 12:05 a.m. on June 6 involving motor jeep P6958 driven by Trevor Blake of Half Moon Heights and motorcycle PA1692 driven by Wesley Francis of Challengers Village. Investigations revealed that the jeep was turning right in the road when the cycle which was travelling behind it collided to its right front fender. The cyclist fell and sustained cuts and bruises to his hands, leg and shoulder.

“The second accident occurred at about 12:50 a.m. and involved motor car RA744 driven by Dario Powell of Conaree and motor jeep P3280 driven by Tuffida Stewart of Parrays Housing Development. Both vehicles were travelling towards Frigate Bay when P3280 stopped behind traffic which was ahead of it and RA744 collided to its rear. The front bumper, bonnet and both headlamps of RA744 were damaged. No personal injuries were sustained.

“The third accident occurred at about 12:56 a.m. and involved motor car P1649 driven by Tito Desouza of Newton Ground and motor car PA3395 driven by Mohammed Allam, a Windsor University student residing at Morgan Heights. Investigations revealed that both vehicles were travelling towards Basseterre when PA3395 stopped and P1649 collided to its rear causing damage to its rear bumper and rear lamps. No personal injuries were sustained.”

The police issued a statement appealing to motorists to drive at safe distances behind vehicles ahead of them in order to reduce the overall number of traffic accidents.

Investigations into all three incidents are ongoing.
