We regret to announce the death of Joseph Elmana Bertie also known as “Bunnum” of Cayon Village. He died on Sunday 14th September 2025 at the age of Sixty-nine (69) Years.
He leaves to mourn:
One son and two daughters: Laminomoro Hodge, Janelle Duncan and Iris Bertie all at home
Ten Grand children: La Keya and Leah in the US, Malique, Le Quane, Kevonte, Demetre, Layla, Wayne, Liam and La Juan @home
Two great grand Children abroad
Ten (10) Brothers and sisters including: Charles Browne, Randolph ‘Jimmin’ Browne, Camilla ‘Ms Jimmy’ Williams-Chumney, Francine Browne, Duncan ‘Conyo’ Bertie, Eugenia ‘Gina’ Wattley, Conrad ‘Tagie’ Bertie, Morvette Bertie, Patrick Browne, Glenroy ‘Vet’ Browne-Bertie.
He also leaves many nieces and nephews many extended relatives such as George Chumney, Astona Browne, Marcella Browne, Lornette Bertie, Ivanie Browne, Julia Bertie and Idetha Bertie Aunt Elinda Hodge in St Thomas.
Mr Joseph ‘Shaminy’ Blackman and family, Claudette Anthony and Family, Lorna Edwards and Family, the Isaac family of Cayon, Carl Harris and family, Raymond Guy and family, The Bertie family of Cayon, Cheryl and the entire Courtar family in St Eustatius, several close friends such as Curtis Baptist and family, Yiwah and Family, Kimbell ‘Apu’ Scott, Edna Griffin and the entire community of Cayon.

Funeral Arrangements for the late Joseph Elmana Bertie also known as ‘Bunnum’ will take place on Tuesday 30th September, 2025 at the Cayon Church of God from 2:00pm
Viewing will begin from 1:00pm
Internment @ the Cayon Cemetery
