 Job Description

    The St. Kitts Marriott is seeking persons to fill the following positions:


     

    Non - Management Positions

     

    Labourer
    Performing various physical tasks to assist in the preparation of construction sites, to include cleaning and removing debris, loading and unloading materials, use heavy and light equipment.

     

    Plumber
    Fix minor plumbing problems such as unclogging drains. Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings. Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air to detect and locate leaks. Review blueprints, building codes, and specifications. Study building plan and inspect structure in order plan installations. Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle. Install and maintain pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances, and fixtures. Perform miscellaneous minor repairs. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment. Certification is required.

     

    Electrician
    Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools. Inspect and diagnose malfunctioning tools, equipment, electrical systems, apparatus, and components. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Use testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes. Test batteries in generators, emergency lighting, etc. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and current codes. Read and follow blueprints/schematics. Respond to repair requests and perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, and appliances. Certification is required.

     

    Carpenter
    Build, install, and repair walls and partitions, including drywall, wallpaper, millwork/molding, and faux finishing. Install and repair finishes, such as laminates. Perform rough-in framing for doors, frames, windows, and cabinetry. Repair, maintain, and construct wood structures such as partitions, doors, furniture, and similar items throughout the property.

     

    HVAC/Mechanical Engineer 
     

    •    Proficient in all aspects of, air conditioning, pump and fan replacements, preventative maintenance and must be able to troubleshoot and repair problems quickly and efficiently. Duties will include maintenance to chillers, cooling towers, split units, in room fan coil units, walk in coolers and freezers and fridges throughout the property. 
     

    •    Candidate should have experience in reading schematics and diagrams, electrical and plumbing background along with a strong mechanical background. The resort is a large operation with 48 chillers and 600 HVAC units, plus larger units throughout the public areas.   
     

    •    Previous experience in a similar environment is required, must be able to troubleshoot and work independently.  
     

    •    Mechanical /HVAC certifications required.  


    Management Positions


    •    Director of Sales
    Functions as the leader of the property’s segmented sales effort (e.g., group, transient, association, corporate, etc.) and responsible for implementing the segment sales strategy and achieving segment revenue goals, property revenue goals and guest and employee satisfaction.  Leads and manages all day-to-day activities related to the sales function with a focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of property sales objectives.  Achieves personal booking goals and makes recommendations on booking goals of direct reports.


    Education and Experience


    -    2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 4 years experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area in hospitality. 
     

    OR
     

    4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 3-5 years experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area in hospitality. 
     

    •    Previous Marriott Brand experience preferred

     

    •    Executive Banquet Chef
    Exhibits culinary talents by personally performing tasks while leading the banquet food preparation staff and managing all food related catering functions.  Accountable for coordinating menus, purchasing, scheduling, food preparation and plating for catering events.  The individual is responsible for delivering a consistent, high-quality product with an appetizing presentation.  Works to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget.  Must ensure sanitation and food standards are achieved. This position has expectations to cover the Executive Chef duties in his/her absence for vacations and days off.


    Education and Experience


    •    High school diploma or GED; 4-6 years of experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area. 
     

    OR 
     

    2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 4 years of experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.
     

    •     Must have experience in high volume food & beverage consumption properties and have a strong affinity toward artistic culinary production.
     

    •    Previous Marriott Brand experience preferred 
     

    •    Food Safety Certification and CPR/First Aid Training required

     

    •    Recreation Manager
    Responsible for managing and supervising all recreation operations. This includes all programs, services, hours of operation, facilities and staff and coordinating the delivery of recreation services for the pool, beach areas, and other varied locations throughout the resort. As a department head, directs and works with the management team and hourly employees to successfully execute operations and meet or exceed property goals. Strives to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction and maximize the financial performance of the department. 

     

    Education and Experience
     

    •    High School diploma; 3-5 years of experience in recreation operations within a hotel/hospitality or cruise ship environment or related professional area.
     

    OR 
     

    2-year degree/diploma from an accredited university/college in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 1-3 years of experience in recreation operations within a hotel/hospitality or cruise ship environment or related professional area.
     

    •    Previous Marriott Brand experience preferred
     

    •    Retails sales experience, CPR/First Aid training would be valuable.


    •    Chief Engineer
    Assists engineering Director in managing budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance and energy conservation. Accountable for maintaining the building and grounds with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection. Assigns, tracks and follows up on status of work assigned to staff and contractors.  Helps to increase guest and employee satisfaction through effective communications and training.

     

    Education and Experience
     

    -    2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major; 3-5 years of experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area in a large hotel environment. 
     

    -    Experience managing a team for a 300 + room hotel while maintaining brand standards
     

    -    Technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.
     

    -    Previous Marriott Brand experience preferred
