The Nevis Tourism Authority (NTA) is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization in its mission to position Nevis as a premier global travel destination. The CEO will be responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, and oversight to ensure the success and growth of the NTA. This role demands an individual who is enthusiastic and deeply committed, with the ability to lead an experienced team.
Key Responsibilities of the CEO:
• Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop, execute, and continuously refine the organization's strategic plan to ensure it aligns with long-term objectives and responds to emerging opportunities and challenges.
• Organizational Direction: Provide overall guidance on the company’s mission, vision, and values, ensuring the entire organization is aligned towards achieving common goals.
• Leadership and Oversight: Oversee all aspects of the organization's operations, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of outcomes that meet or exceed set expectations.
• Team Development and Mentorship: Lead, inspire, and mentor team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Sustaining Competitive Advantage: Keep the organization ahead of the curve in the regional and international market by identifying trends, building innovative solutions, and ensuring the company's competitive edge is maintained.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Drive the growth of visitor arrivals and maximize guest spending by targeting both existing and emerging markets.
• Foster and diversify relationships with key public and private sector partners to strengthen strategic alliances.
• Assist in the execution of the tourism policy and strategy set forth by the Ministry of Tourism, Ports & Transport.
• Take an active role in developing both short-term and long-term strategic objectives, setting ambitious and challenging targets for the organization.
• Advise the Board of Directors on policy and provide competitive advantage reports as directed.
• Effectively manage the annual budget, as approved by the Board of Directors, attend monthly Board meetings and provide financial status and projection reports.
• Guide the management team in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and programs for the NTA.
• Oversee initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and optimizing resource utilization.
• Lead the development and successful execution of new projects, programs, and activities that align with the NTA’s vision and mission.
• Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with local, regional, and international stakeholders, including the private and public sectors, regional institutions, airlines, and cruise lines.
• Manage product development and ensure the achievement of key performance objectives.
• Ensure the implementation of effective communication and public relations programs to engage key stakeholders.
• Adopt a flexible and adaptive leadership style to inspire confidence among both internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating qualities of perseverance, humility, independence, and collaboration.
• Provide clear, authentic, and visible leadership to foster an ethical work environment that promotes collaboration, accountability, innovation, creativity, learning, and professional development to motivate employees.
• Establish and maintain a comprehensive data processing and analysis program.
• Oversee the NTA’s organizational structure, ensuring it functions efficiently and aligns with strategic objectives, and recommend improvements where needed.
• Monitor the achievement of management objectives through a performance management system, ensuring a cohesive, collaborative team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• A Degree (preferably but not limited to a Master’s degree) in Marketing, Tourism, Business Management or International Relations.
• Ten (10) years minimum relevant experience as a senior executive or in a leadership role leading a team of a minimum of 10 employees.
• Experience in the tourism industry and an understanding of tourism related products.
• Knowledge and experience in trade consumer shows and trade-related activities.
• Experience in Cruise Tourism Management.
• Knowledge and experience of airlift and travel connections to and from Nevis.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, manage revenues of $3-5 million (Eastern Caribbean Dollars) annually, and strong communication skills.
• Fluency in English is required; any other languages will be an asset.
• Possess extensive experience in strategic planning, with a strong focus on hospitality and tourism development, ensuring long-term growth and sustainability within the industry.
• Expertise in establishing and nurturing valuable partnerships with both regional and international stakeholders, driving mutually beneficial collaborations and initiatives.
• Proven track record in building and maintaining effective relationships with intergovernmental bodies, senior government officials, and civil society organizations, ensuring alignment and support for key initiatives.
• Substantial experience in developing and implementing innovative strategies to enhance tourism competitiveness on national, regional, and international platforms, ensuring the sustainable growth of the sector.
