 Job Description

    Safe Harbor in Saint Kitts is looking for marina professional with exceptional customer service and business organizing skills needed to administer our marina operations, while assisting the team with safe towing and dock operations. Must have a friendly and accommodating demeanor and be able to multitask and prioritize requests and operational procedures while listening to and understanding customer needs with a reassuring style that exudes professionalism and integrity. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

    Waterside Operations 

    • Manage all waterside and dockside operations, including inbound, outbound, and intermarina vessel movements. 

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all vessel activity within the marina. 

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the Dock Calendar. 

    • Analyze vessel requirements and coordinate with the General Manager to assign appropriate slip locations based on customer needs. 

    Captain Duties 

    • Perform all tug captain responsibilities, including escorting and towing services. 

    • Oversee and conduct day-to-day towing and escort operations. 

    Customer Service & Communications 

    • Greet all customers in person and/or via radio using proper radio etiquette. 

    • Communicate slip assignments clearly and professionally. 

    • Provide a Welcome Packet upon arrival. 

    Fueling Operations 

    • Coordinate day-of fueling logistics. 

    • Serve as liaison between vessel crews and fuel suppliers. 

    Tugboat & Equipment Maintenance 

    • Perform and document all required tugboat checks and services: 

    - Daily, weekly, and monthly inspections 
    - Coordinate annual services 

    • Schedule and oversee vendor maintenance for John Deere equipment and tugboats. 

    Administrative & Operational Tasks 

    • Conduct daily cord counts at all water slips. 

    • Ensure compliance with arrival and departure procedures. 

    • Monitor tides, weather, and line handler requirements for vessel movements. 

    • Always maintain safety and risk control standards. 

    Availability 

    • Must be available to work weekends and holidays. 

    • Must be able to work overtime as required. 

    Other Responsibilities 

    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager. 

    Safety and Environmental Responsibilities 

    • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training 

    • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area 

    • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately 

    Technical and Physical Requirements 

    • USCG Captain's License or equivalent with towing endorsement 

    • Minimum 5 years yacht towing experience 

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred 

    • 2-5 years’ marina experience preferred 

    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel 

    • Ability to work safely around the water 

    • Must be able to swim 

    • Ability to lift 50 pounds 

    • Basic boat handling skills preferred 

    • Knowledge of basic power tools preferred
