Royal St Kitts Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Frigate Bay. With 227 luxury studios and suites each with its own fully stocked and equipped kitchen, it is simply your ‘home away from home.’ Due to our expanding growth, we are hiring Carpenter to join our team.
Position Summary: The Carpenter is responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures, furniture, fixtures, and fittings throughout the property. This includes work on framing, cabinetry, doors, windows, drywall, and other wood-related projects. The role ensures that all carpentry work meets company quality and safety standards while supporting the overall upkeep and appearance of the property.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Construct, install, repair, and maintain wooden structures, furniture, partitions, doors, windows, and cabinets.
• Perform drywall installation, repairs, and finishing as needed.
• Operate woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, plywood, and other materials according to specifications.
• Inspect and repair fixtures such as furniture, flooring, shelving, and paneling.
• Ensure proper finishing, sanding, varnishing, painting, or sealing of wood surfaces.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of carpentry tools.
• Work closely with the Maintenance Team to support general property repairs and renovations.
• Follow safety procedures when handling equipment, tools, and hazardous materials.
• Report needed repairs, hazards, or unsafe conditions to the Maintenance Supervisor
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2+ years of professional carpentry experience required.
• Experience in general maintenance is an asset.
Skills:
• Proven experience as a carpenter with a strong understanding of woodworking techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and measurements.
• Skilled in using woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools.
• Knowledge of finishing methods including sanding, staining, painting, and varnishing.
• Good problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Physical stamina to lift, bend, climb, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
• Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
• Exposure to dust, noise, paints, solvents, dust, and fumes.
• May require lifting, climbing ladders, and working at heights.
