The St. Kitts Tourism Authority (SKTA) is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Product Development Officer.
General Definition
The Product Development Officer will support the Product Development Department under the leadership of the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in implementing initiatives that enhance the destination’s tourism products, infrastructure, and visitor experience. This role requires dynamic engagement in tourism product development, cruise and yachting operations, enforcement of the Tourism Act, stakeholder collaboration, and sustainability advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
• Assist in the assessment and continuous improvement of St. Kitts’ tourism products, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement enhancements to tourism offerings in line with market trends and visitor expectations.
• Conduct research to support the development and diversification of tourism products, ensuring alignment with the destination’s strategic goals.
• Support cruise and yachting industry initiatives, including event planning and operational enhancements.
• Contribute to strategies aimed at increasing cruise passenger conversions to overnight stays or repeat visits.
• Aid in enforcing the Tourism Act by ensuring compliance with standards and regulations among licensed operators, vendors, and service providers.
• Participate in the licensing process for tourism operators, vendors, and service providers,
• Build and maintain relationships with local and international stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and community organizations.
• Actively support initiatives that involve collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, the private sector, and other partners.
• Supervise Transport Agents and Tourism Operations Inspectors, providing guidance, scheduling, and oversight to ensure smooth operations and adherence to standards.
• Promote professional growth through coaching and training within the team
• Promote sustainable tourism practices and assist in ensuring all initiatives align with sustainability goals and regulations.
• Address operational issues, crisis, or incidents that may impact the visitor experience.
• Report and provide timely updates to senior management on critical incidents and other relevant matters.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Tourism & Hospitality, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in tourism product development, regulatory enforcement, or stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of St. Kitts’ tourism offerings, including its attractions, heritage sites, yachting facilities, and cruise operations.
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in public speaking and stakeholder engagement.
• Supervisory experience with a strong ability to delegate tasks, set clear priorities, and ensure accountability.
Remuneration
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
