The St. Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SKNCIC) invite applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Executive Director.
About SKNIC
The SKNCIC is a private sector organization dedicated to nurturing a business environment that fosters sustainable economic growth. Functioning as a business assistant and research body, the Chamber serves as a powerful advocate and lobbyist for its diverse membership.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the strategic management of the Secretariat, providing expert guidance to members, and offering comprehensive administrative and advisory support to the Board.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Executive Director will include:
1. Creating and executing an advocacy strategy, with guidance from the Board of Directors, that benefits the members.
2, Coordinating research, and participating in consultations and workshops etc., that aid in the development of position papers. presentations and reports that clearly represent the views of the members and build a stronger economy.
3. Planning, organizing and executing a range of services and events that are attractive and beneficial to members.
4. Designing and implementing activities that foster membership inclusion, provide business support services and promote growth amongst members.
5. Managing the operations and human resources of the Secretariat.
6. Serving as the Secretary to the Board of Directors.
KEY COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS
Leadership & Management Competencies
. Demonstrated managerial skills, such as experience in leading teams, managing budgets, and strategic planning. The Executive Director will oversee staff, delegate tasks, and ensure operational efficiency.
. Team building and staff development will be critical. Fostering a collaborative work environment, mentoring staff, and organizing team-building initiatives. This may include facilitating professional development opportunities and encouraging open communication within the Secretariat.
. The Executive Director should set performance goals, conduct regular staff evaluations, and implement processes for continuous improvement to ensure the Secretariat operates at a high standard.
. Strong communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for effective team leadership and member engagement are essential.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements for this position include:
. A master’s degree in business administration, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field.
. A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a senior Leadership position or executive management role.
. Strong knowledge of Government and Public Sector Operations
. Demonstrated ability to understand Regional and international Trade Agreements, laws and legislation.
. Comprehensive Knowledge of the business environment in the Federation, the wider Caribbean region and Global Business Community.
Technical Skills
. Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, including experience in report writing, press releases, and minute taking.
. High level of competency with Microsoft Office Suite, (Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher).
. Knowledge of financial management and budget oversight.
. A Basic understanding of marketing and sales strategies to promote Chamber initiatives.
