POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of tasks involving all aspects of facilities maintenance, preventative maintenance, including but not limited to plumbing and electrical tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
. Perform all general repair and maintenance related to the marina
. Performs maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, and cleaning, and electrical.
. Monitor All Lighting Timers and assist with electrical queries.
. Assist yachts with connection to power pedestals and assist with Electrical plug wiring as necessary.
. Summer Maintenance plans and through cleaning maintenance are required to up keep all electrical, generator, plumbing services.
. Developing and maintaining effective, friendly, professional working relationships with staff, members, guests and vendors.
. Desalination plant: Daily operations and shifts may vary to accommodate the desal operations. Monitoring and handling, daily operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, detail cleaning of the desal container, inside and surrounding areas.
. Following SOPs related to the Desal plant to include backwashing MMF System, Changing Cartridge Filters as required with logs to report inventories, fill chemical tanks as required, completing all preoperation checks preventative maintenance, housekeeping to check plant safety and report any anomalies.
. Desal daily logs including precheck, operations, post operation, emergency procedures.
. Certain items will be under direction of electrician, as confirmed by manager.
. On call for out of hours.
. Carry out duties and responsibilities assigned by the Maintenance Manager/ Overseeing Manager.
. Availability to work overtime when required.
TECHNICAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
. High school diploma or equivalent preferred
. Electrician skills required
. Previous marina experience preferred
. Ability to work safely around the water
. Able to swim 50 metres confidently and tread water for 3 minutes
. Ability to lift 50 pounds
. Basic boat handling skills preferred
. Knowledge of dock construction and repair preferred
. Knowledge of basic power tools preferred
. Ability to work in all weather conditions
. And any skills considered standard that a Facilities Assistant should possess

. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
. Positive attitude and willingness to learn
. Ability to provide exceptional customer service and an understanding of customers’ needs
. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills while working both independently and within a team context
. Organizational skills are a must
. Demonstrates ability to prioritize and work unsupervised
