The St. Kitts Tourism Authority (SKTA) is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Research Officer.
General Definition
The Research Officer plays a pivotal role in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting tourism-related data to support the strategic goals of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority (SKTA). This role involves extensive collaboration with the Statistics and Immigration departments, SCASPA, and other hospitality stakeholders, and government ministries. The Research Officer will ensure accurate data collection and analysis, provide insights and reports, and contribute to the decision-making processes across SKTA.
Key Responsibilities
1. Serve as the primary custodian of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority statistics database, managing all tourism data-related correspondence and maintaining accurate databases for internal teams, partners, and external stakeholders across all key source markets, including the USA, UK, Canada, and the Caribbean.
2. Coordinate with the Department of Statistics, SCASPA, Immigration, and other relevant agencies to obtain, reconcile, and organize tourism data on a regular basis, ensuring the accurate separation and reporting of statistics for St. Kitts and Nevis.
3. Clean and validate data, correcting discrepancies to ensure accuracy and reliability.
4. Monitor and analyze the performance of competing Caribbean destinations, highlighting key performance indicators to support strategic planning and decision-making.
5. Monitor international and regional airfare to help develop marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns.
6. Lead and manage all tourism survey projects, including planning, implementation, and the selection of appropriate data collection methods to effectively capture information from target audiences.
7. Compile and analyze tourism survey findings and prepare reports that comply with SKTA's reporting standards, clearly outlining survey objectives and comparative analyses
8. Provide management with quarter reports, highlighting key insights based on data collection to aid in decision-making processes across all databases
9. Compile and deliver monthly reports on key performance metrics, trends, and insights on air, cruise, yacht and ferry arrivals for internal review and decision-making.
10. Produce quarterly reports on cruise and stay-over visitor arrivals, offering insights into trends and opportunities for growth.
11. Supervise surveys and provide insights into visitor satisfaction, behaviors, and trends to support marketing and operational improvements.
12. Attend internal and external meetings to present data insights and discuss ongoing research and data collection initiatives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess:
• Bachelor’s degree in data Analysis, Statistics or related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in data analysis, research, statistics or a related field
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel, for data analysis and report generation.
• Proficiency with statistical / data analysis software
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Remuneration
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
