Comment: Its funny how when things go bad, many people forget the good things that the people involved have done. Stanford has helped develop the region in one way or another and all that has been done with regard to him, is the distancing of ourselves from him. Suppose he had done the same? Would many of us be where we are today?
I thought in the justice system, one is 'innocent until proven guilty,' some of the comments here indicate that he stole the money. I for one did not see him take it, and I do not think many people saying that he is guilty have a shred of evidence to prove that he is. Until a trial is complete, the facts are presented and he is convicted, if he is convicted, who are we to judge? What if he is found not guilty, what if his accusers are unable to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt? What are we to say? Is he still guilty?
@Pellucid, ignorance like that will lead you nowhere.
In my opinion, in light of the treatment alleged while Stanford is in prison, the judge should release him, flight risk or not, I do not think that you can try a dead man. Allegedly he is partially blind, has loss of feeling from beatings and such, what is next? to shank him, that may be the end of him. Where would that leave his so called victims? I too am sorry for Stanford and I hope that he gets a fair trial, as well as fair treatment. |
