Comment: I have no problems with the authorities ensuring that people conform with the rules of the land. My problem is that it appears here that the playing field is not level. Where Ivy operates from is far less of a hindrance to traffic than that booth that the lady operates on the Island Main Road, across from the Water Department at Needmust. It is a two lane road and when someone stops there to buy it affects the flow of traffic going to and from Basseterre. Are you telling me that no one noticed that this person is in breach of safety codes? Or maybe because Ivy's stall is not hidden amongst trees, so she is more obvious. Please, let us enforce the law fairly so that it does not appear that we a victimizing anyone. Actually, I miss seeing Ivy on the by-pass road. I thought it was very creative of her to choose such a location. I see this all the time when I go to places like Barbados. I pull off the Highway to buy coconut water. Street side vending is also a big thing in neighboring Antigua. So please, let us assist those who are trying to make an honest living, by providing avenues for them to do so. If the rule applies to Peter, it MUST also apply to Paul. I am so sorry Ivy. |
