Comment: I know that it's an emotional time but we must think logically. The law allows for immediate termination provided the company give them 'lieu of notice pay'. This is just a couple of weeks salary which they actually haven't worked for. If they had given them the notice time, then those employees would have been expected to work until the date, with no additional money at the end. That employee could not accept another job before that time or they would have forfeited any additional money. An employee now can try to find new employment asap, start work and have that 'lieu of notice pay' in their pockets. Police I am sure was necessary, providing they didn't violate any of the employees rights, because we know how not emotional we get. This may all be a blessing in disguise. Just ask some of the former SSMC workers that have gone on the do very well as self employed persons. JUST MY OPINION, No politics involved. |
