Comment: To all: Because we are a Democracy, we have the constitutional right to free speech. Thanks to SKNVibes for enabling us to have this dialogue. I do not think that Mr Brantley is pulling down the gov't by speaking out against crime. Actually he is putting the gov't in a stronger position by forcing them to deal with the issue. I would encourage all of you to speak out, be angry, let your voice be heard. If we keep quiet then the criminals are winning. To those of you who think that Brantley should shut up, assume that PAM was in power and we had the same escalation of crime. Would you ask Douglas to shut up if he criticizes PAM for not doing enough to combat crime? I am a friend of Mr Brantley but if he was to destructively criticize the PM I would be the first person to let him know that he is wrong. Our problem in the federation is that we hold our politicians to be Gods and once we support them they can't do wrong. There is only but one GOD and the politicians are only civil servants who work on behalf of the population. Like Mark, the PM has to show his frustration. If he remains quiet it appears that he is not concern. We recently had a murdered taxi driver and two murdered senior citizens. I have said in previous dialogues that the gov't needs to consult with outside experts. When I came to NY back in the early 90's, NY was faced with the same wave of crime. The Mayor understood that there was an urgent and necessary need to put more resources in place to deal with crime. Today, NY is a thousand times safer than SK and Nevis. I believe that proper consultation from ex-police chiefs from NY or LA is a good start. They have dealt with this issue on a larger scale and were able to find solutions. Let us be angry, let us not ask any one to be silent, let us be concern, let all of us be more responsible and become a nation of being our brothers keepers, and last but not most important, let us ask GOD to safe guard our nation. |
