Comment: Like many people, I was alarmed when they were found not guilty of attempted murder but the sentencing has done a lot to quiet my unease. Eighteen years is still a light sentence for pain and suffering that these animals have caused. The alarming thing is that there are those who would condone this behaviour and would prefer that the culprits not face any sort of sanctions.
Let us take time out to remember that Corporal Bergan will never be a soldier again. He will always have to endure the pain and suffering their wickedness brought him. He will never have the chance to be the Calypso King of St. Kitts.
Let us remember Daffy Henry, warts and all, who tried in the end to do the decent thing and was riddled with bullets.
When some idiot thinks that fairness is looking out for the wicked, and forgetting their victims, and not worrying about the consequences of the criminally bent going unpunished, you have to wonder whether they care about the communities they live in.
They should have lost them in jail. |
